Dine the world, one concert at a time!
Music Haven Concert Series welcomes new purveyors
SCHENECTADY—JULY 3, 2017—For 27 years, The Music Haven Concert Series has invited its patrons to “travel the world one concert at a time.”
Now, it encourages visitors to Central Park to dine the world as well, with a broad selection of food and beverages themed around the nationality of each summer Sunday performance.
Fans of season opener Sharon Shannon, for example, can sup on shepherd’s pie and Irish soda bread, and sip a non-alcoholic Irish cream specialty drink, or try a Lock 9 Porter.
The new food offerings come from the venerable More Perreca’s Italian Kitchen, in Schenectady’s Little Italy neighborhood. In addition to special menus, More Perreca’s will also present a rotating selection of classic favorites such as arancini (rice balls with a meaty center); four cheese baked ziti; tomato pie; and penne Bolognese, along with that famous Perreca’s Italian bread, and beverages including Sanavi flavored waters, Snapple iced teas and Polar, Adirondack sodas. Food and beverage service begins at 6:00PM, one hour prior to the start of the concerts.
Maria Papa, owner of More Perreca’s, says, “We are honored to be joining forces with the Music Haven Concert Series. Perreca’s has been feeding the diversified community that makes up the Capital District for over 100 years, and we are thrilled to be adding layers of international flavor to these community gatherings with our legendary food and service.”
On the beverage side, “Wolf Hollow Brewing Company is thrilled to be a part of the Music Haven Concert Series in Central Park,” according to co-owner and General Manager Pete Bednarek.
Wolf Hollow will tap three beers each night. White's Wit, a Belgian wheat beer brewed with a bit of sweet orange peel, and District 6 IPA, a west coast-style ale, will be mainstays, with a third pour changing for each show. To encourage sustainability, all beer will be served in a heavy duty reusable 16oz. cup, imprinted with the Music Haven logo - $6 for the initial purchase, $5 for refills throughout the season.
“Our mission,” Bednarek continues, “is about bringing people together around craft beer. We’re about building community, so what better place for Wolf Hollow to be than in Central Park? Cheers to Music Haven on another season, Wolf Hollow is grateful to be a part!
And, as always, Ben & Jerry’s will be scooping premium ice cream at each performance – classic and unique flavors reflective of the origins of the music.
